A Museum Quality Art Print of The Thomas Jefferson Building in Washington DC for sale by Brandywine General Store. This grand structure is the oldest of the 3 buildings that house the Library of Congress and was built between 1890 -97. It has some of the richest inside interiors of any building in the United States. Prior to the construction of the Thomas Jefferson Building, the American Library was housed in a wing at the US Capitol Building. The former President was honored because his personal library was the beginning of the Library of Congress, when he sold it to the newly formed United States after the British burnt the Capitol in the War of 1812. Picture #146 an archival geographic print from the Highsmith collection.
