A Museum Quality Art Print of Perry's Monument at Put in Bay Ohio in Lake Erie. This Memorial was established to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. This battle was fought between the British Navy and the United States Navy who was under the leadership of Commodore William Perry. This Monument also celebrated the long lasting peace between the countries of England, Canada and the United States. The structure is the World's most massive Doric Column with a height of 352 feet and overlooks Lake Erie and is located only 5 miles from the Canadian Border in Put in Bay on South Bass Island. The Monument was completed in 1915 but funding problems prevented the completion of a full memorial complex. In 1919 the Federal Government assumed control of the Monument and provided the additional funding that was needed to finish the project. Over 200,000 tourists now visit this island and Memorial every year. We have made this print look like an antique hand tinted cabinet card photograph, that would have been about how an image would have looked when the Monument was completed. For some reason this picture just seemed to lend itself to an antique look.
