The Ursa Minor constellation is also known as the Little Bear and is one of the 48 constellations listed by Ptomely in the 2nd century. The tail of the Little Bear is what we know as the Little Dipper. The brightest star in Ursa Minor is Polaris which is 432 light years from Earth and is known as The North Star. If you are at Earth's North Pole the star Polaris will be directly overhead.
