Edgar Degas Billiard Room at Menil-Hubert Art Print
Brandywine General Store
$10.99
Archival art print of Edgar Degas’s Billiard Room at Ménil-Hubert, an oil on canvas completed in 1892. The room was painted at the Normandy country estate of Paul Valpinçon, Degas’s childhood friend, where the artist had spent summers since youth and returned throughout his life to paint family portraits and interior scenes. In this grand room, the billiard table commands the center, flanked by a long bench, a fireplace at the far end, large paintings on every wall, and a fine rug beneath the table — the home of people of considerable means. Degas used the composition to test his mastery of angles, horizontals, and perpendicular lines in interior space. Available from Brandywine General Store.
