George Catlin Distinguished Crow Indians Art Print

An archival premium quality art print of Distinguished Crow Indians by George Catlin, painted in the 1860s. Catlin kept detailed notes identifying the Native Americans in many of his portraits, and this work is among the most richly documented. The subjects are identified as follows:
a. — Pa-ris-ka-róo-pa (The Two Crows); head chief of the tribe, in a splendid costume; his long hair descends to the ground, and his headdress is the entire skin of a war eagle.
b. — Pa-ris-ka-róo-pa (The Younger); wise man and counsellor of the chief.
c. — Cháh-ee-chopes (The Four Wolves); a distinguished chief of the tribe.
d. — Duhk-gíts-o-óh-see (The Red Bear); a celebrated warrior.
e. — Ho-ra-tó-a; a famous warrior.
f. — Oo-je-en-áh-a (The Woman who Lives in the Bear’s Den); wife of the chief. 1832.
