An archival premium quality art print of Magnolia and Blue Grosbeak by Mark Catesby, Plate 39 from his Natural History of Carolina, produced in 1731. The illustration shows a blue grosbeak perched in a magnolia branch, preparing to eat one of the red seeds from a spent magnolia bloom. Catesby produced many such bird illustrations for ornithological journals throughout the 18th century — well before American independence from England.
