Lucca is an ancient city and commune in Tuscany, in the central part of Italy on the river Serchio. It is most famous for its intact Renaissance era city walls. Lucca was founded by the Etruscans and became a Roman Colony in 180 BC. In this artwork Bellotto shows the Church of San Giovanni and the Palazzo Michiletti with its terraced gardens, both of these historic buildings are on the left. In the center right is the Duomo and Campanile.
