A Museum Quality Art Print of the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme for sale by Brandywine General Store. This New England Church is so typical of the beautiful architecture of the early days of this region. The Church has a skinny but very tall spire that is framed between the two trees in the front yard. The first meeting house at this location was built in 1665 with the first Minister being Moses Noyes. Other buildings were constructed in 1689 and 1738. The present building in this print was constructed in 1817, burnt in 1907 and then rebuilt with help from the artists at the Old Lyme art colony. Impressionist artist, Childe Hassam has depicted this Church in a series of three famous paintings from 1903 to 1906. Hassam's paintings helped bring publicity to the Old Lyme Art Colony and helped with tourism to the town. Picture #77
