Thorburn Archibald - Blackcock & Grouse in Winter Flight art print
Art print of Blackcock and Guineas in Winter Flight painted by Archibald Thorburn in 1924 for sale by Brandywine General Store. These game birds were on a large canvas with the size being 36 by 55 inches. Recently sold by Bonhams of London for 310,900.00, this painting was originally sold in 1944 by Christies of London for a grand total of 70 guineas, which in todays dollars is around 45.00. So this was quite an appreciation of dollars over the last 70 years. The picture shows a cold winter scene with the blackcock and grouse game birds flying over a snow covered creek.
