Van Gogh Vincent - Poppy Field Fine Art Print
A Museum Quality Print of Poppy Fields by Vincent Van Gogh. This oil on canvas was completed by the artist in June 1890 with the original size being 33 by 40 inches and now located at the Municipal Museum in The Hague in the Netherlands. Van Gogh said "Auvers is very beautiful" in a letter to his brother Theo. In a nine week period from May to July 1890 he finished 106 works here including Poppy Fields. This painting is very similar to Claude Monet's 1881 painting of the same subject. Copied after the Impressionist painters but in Poppies Van Gogh has created a work that is entirely his own. The scene is simple, just a large field of poppies in full orange bloom with trees and a grass field in the behind and blue sky above.
