Teniers, David the Younger - The Old Beer Drinker Art Print

Fine Art Prints of Distinction

$18.99

A Museum Quality Art Print of The Old Beer Drinker painted by David Teniers the Younger in the period between 1640 and 1660. The original size of this oil on panel is 13.8 by 12.8 inches and now hangs at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam Holland. The scene shows a solitary peasant setting in what is probably a tavern drinking a beer out of a tall wood stein. Another man is setting in front of a huge fireplace looking up at a simple drawn picture of a person hanging above the fireplace. This was a spartan place with only a few rude pieces of furniture, an old corner cupboard is in the corner, a sawhorse is by the beer drinker with his coat and hat thrown over it. A hogshead barrel sets in front of the fire with a jug on top and finishing out the sparse furnishings is a small shelf with a couple pieces of pottery on it. The beer drinker sets on a handmade flat chair with a small bench for the table holding his stein.
