Rousseau, Henri - View of the Quai d'Ivry Fine Art Print
A Museum Quality Print of View of the Quai d'Ivry by Henri Rousseau. The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1907 with the original artwork now hanging in the Bridgestone Museum of Art in Tokyo Japan. Rousseau was fascinated by the modern mechanical pieces of his era. In this painting the airship floating in the sky is most likely La Patrie, the 1st airship ordered by the French Army, which flew across the Paris sky in 1901. In this view by Rousseau the hot air balloon has stabilizers added which weren't added until 1907. The Quai d'Ivry was an Industrial area up river on the Seine just outside of Paris. The people are all dressed in their finest clothing to come out and view this modern marvel over the Paris skies.
