An archival premium Quality art Print of Knight at the Crossroads by Vasnetsov Ritter for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1882 with the original art now hanging at the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg Russia. This painting is a free interpretation of the Russian legend of the Three Journeys of Ilya Muromets. The hero is in a moment of decision before a stone inscribed with the following words "If you go straight ahead, there will be no life, there is no way forward for he who travels past, walks past or flies past. The knight is decked out in full battle gear, he has on armor with a shield on his back, his armaments include a quiver of arrows, a long spear with a red handle and a ball and chain. The artist employs literary devices to contrast the forces of light and dark from the lucid figure of the knight on the white horse, the ominous black raven on the stone, the skull and bones scattered across the steppe.
