Rembrandt - Moses with the Ten Commandments Fine Art Print
A Museum Quality Print of Moses with the Ten Commandments by Rembrandt. The original size of this oil on canvas is 66 by 54 inches and now hangs at the Germaldegalerie State Museum in Berlin Germany. Moses has been called away by God to Mount Sinai where he is presented with the Ten Commandments by God, which were laws the Israelite s were to live by. When Moses came off the Mountain he found his people had erected a golden calf as an idol to other Gods so in rage he is throwing the tablets to the ground to smash them. The two stone tablets were written by the Hand of God, the only place in the Bible where God's word was written by Him. Rembrandt painted this almost in a monochrome, mostly in a red and brown tints while the tablets themselves are black in color. Please be advised that as with most of the paintings from the middle ages, this one shows considerable wear which can't be removed without ruining the artistic intent of the original artist.
