Liljefors, Bruno - Jays Fine Art Print
Museum Quality Print of Jays by Bruno Liljefors in 1886 with Japanese Influence. The original of this oil on canvas work of art measures 51 by 66 centimeters and now hangs at the National Museum in Stockholm Sweden. The Japanese influence of closely cropped composition, a tall narrow format and several pictures together in one frame are evident in this painting. Japanese Color woodcuts were the height of fashion in Paris during this period and several artists were influenced in the Japanese style of painting. In the scene, some incident, probably a hunter or some animal, has startled the jays, we are observing the landscape from the same vantage point as the Jay that is still perched among the yellow autumn leaves. This bird will soon follow the one that has already taken flight towards safety in the forest in the distance.
