A Museum Quality Print of The Blizzard by Cornelius Krieghoff. This painting was completed by the artist in the year 1860. This cold winter scene shows a pair of young children pulling a sledge with some wood on it and another child. They are maybe heading to the house in the background with more wood to keep the fires burning a little bit longer, someone is coming out of the house to meet them. The snow is still pouring down and filling the entire scene with white and blizzard like conditions. If this is all the wood the family has, someone will soon have to venture out again, because this small amount of fuel will not last long in this extreme cold weather. The house in the background looks deserted and no smoke is coming out of the flue, so this might not be their destination, their house might be further on. There are several dead trees showing throughout the picture, so the children should be able to get more wood later on.
