Huysum, Jan van - Fruit Piece Still Life

Fine Art Prints of Distinction

$7.99

A Museum Quality Print of Fruit Piece by Jan van Huysum. The Dutch artist finished this oil on panel in 1722. This is most likely the companion piece to Vase of Flowers. In Fruit Piece, Van Huysum combines the lustrous realism of 17th century Dutch paintings with the bright colors more reminiscent of hte 18th century. The arrangement of bursting and overripe fruits spills over onto the ledge, some falling prey to insects. The fly on the peach looks so real, that it appears it just landed on the screen, as I was working. Flowers droop under their heavily laden blooms. Some of the colorful flowers in this arrangement include carnations, begonias, iris and more. Fruits include white and purple grapes, red raspberries, apples, peaches, muskmelon and more. A grapevine snakes its way through the composition ending up above the urn that is in the back of this arrangement.
