Friedrich Caspar David - On a Sailing Ship Fine Art Print
A museum quality print of On a Sailing Ship by David Caspar Friedrich which was painted between the years 1818 and 1820. The original size of this oil on canvas is 28 by 22 inches and is now located at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg Russia. This canvas was rare for Friedrich in that is shows a representation of a real time event. It was painted just after the artist's honeymoon, a journey around Germany. It is thought that the figures in the boat are supposed to represent the artist and his wife, Caroline Bommer, the 25 year old daughter of a Dresden dyer.
