Dome of the United States Capitol Building Art Print
A Museum Quality Art Print of the Dome of the United States Capitol Building for sale by Brandywine General Store. The dome of our Capitol building is a later addition to the edifice replacing earlier constructions. The current dome reaches upwards to 288 feet in height and 96 feet in diameter. The dome was designed by Thomas U. Walter, the fourth Architect of the Capitol, and constructed between 1855 and 1866 at a cost of $1,047,291. It is made out of cast iron but painted to match the exterior of the Capitol building. Picture #168 an archival geographic print made from a photo in the Highsmith collection.
