San Francisco CA - Crissy Field at the Golden Gate Bridge Art Print
A Museum Quality Art Print of Crissy Field at the Golden Gate Bridge. This San Francisco scene shows the flat green grounds of Crissy Field with a couple of structures with red roofs, palm trees in behind the structures. In behind all of this adding to the composition is part of the Golden Gate Bridge. Crissy Field is a former US Army airfield and is now part of the Golden Gate National recreation area in San Francisco, California. The Army took control of this area as an airfield in 1920 after a few years of construction. Crissy Field was named after Major Dana H. Crissy, the base commander of Mather Field in California who died in 1919 in an airplane crash at Salt Lake City, Utah. The Army closed this base in 1974 at which time it was cleaned up and turned into the National Recreation Area it is today.
