A Museum Quality Print of The White Drake by Joseph Crawhall for sale by Brandywine General Store. This painting was completed by the artist around 1895 with the original Watercolor and Gouache on Brown Linen measuring 41 by 57 centimeters in size and now residing at the National Gallery of Scotland being purchased by this Museum Institution in 1996 with proceeds from the Country Lottery. The artist captures the play of light across the bird's feathers and used the grass and wildflowers in the meadow to help define the space. Daisies and Dandelions help add some color and character. Crawhall had an interest in Japanese and Chinese wash drawings on silk which inspired watercolors paintings such as this one, with a very different appearance than an oil on canvas.
