Cezanne, Paul - The Pond Fine Art Print
A Museum Quality Print of The Pond by Paul Cezanne. The artist finished this oil on canvas around the year 1879. The size of the original artwork is 18 by 22 inches and now hangs in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In the early 1870s Cezanne lived in Auvers, a small town outside Paris where he was learning to work outdoors and paint directly from nature. The Pond is painted in small parallel brush strokes of blues and greens, an early version of the distinctive brush works that play a key role in his more mature paintings to come later. The composition shows a group of young people relaxing and having fun around a pond of water. Two couples are present who are probably out on a date, one man is fishing, while another single man looks like he is sleeping on the bank.
