An archival poster of Nayas Indians painted by American West artist George Catlin in the 1860s. When Catlin exhibited these Native American paintings in New York in 1871 he published a catalog listing of all the works that were exhibited. Nayas Indians was described thus:
a. -- Tsa-hau-míxen (-----); said to be a secondary chief.
b. -- Kíb-be (The Night Bird); a Nayas woman, the young wife of the chief, wearing in her under lip an oval block of wood, two and a half inches in length. 1855."
