Caillebotte, Gustave - Fruit Displayed on a Stand Fine Art Print
An archival premium Quality Still Life art Print of Fruit Displayed on a Stand by Gustave Caillebotte for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist completed this oil on canvas in the year 1882 with the size of the original being 30 by 40 inches and is now hanging at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston Massachusetts being bought by them from a private collector in 1979. The artist painted this work for in the dining room of his friend, Albert Courtier of Meaux. Caillebotte was a loyal and rich member of the Impressionist Group of artists in France. He bequeathed his extensive art collection to the state of France where it became the nucleus of the Impressionist art collection now in the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. The composition shows a close up view of colorful fruits stacked on a market stand creating a bold pattern of repeated forms and colors. Some of the fruits that are visible in the painting are blueberries, grapes, plums, oranges, tomatoes, pears, apples and oranges, which make a very striking and colorful display.
