An archival premium Quality art Print of a Boston Street Scene by Edward Mitchell Bannister for sale by Brandywine General Store. This painting of the Boston Common was finished by the artist in the year 1899. For years Bannister painted with muted colors, however in this work, which was also one of his last, he used a much more vivid palette than in years past. Edward Mitchell Bannister was the son of a black immigrant from Barbados and his Scottish Canadian born wife, was initially a seaman, but later settled in Boston where he made a meager living as a hair dresser and hand tinter of photographs. With the encouragement of his wife, he turned to paintings where he found a ready market for his atmospheric landscapes. He later went on to become of the 7 founding members of the Providence Art Club, which still flourishes today. Famous Artists art print #89
