An archival premium Quality art Print of Valley of the Yosemite by Albert Bierstadt for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on paperboard in the year 1864. The size of the original artwork is 12 by 19 inches and now hangs in the Museum of Fine Arts of Boston after being gifted to this institution by Martha C. Karolik in 1947. Following his trip to the Rocky Mountains in 1859, Albert Bierstadt returned to the American West in 1863 with his friend, the author Fitz Hugh Ludlow. Bierstadt later wrote that they had found the Garden of Eden. He painted this small finished oil sketch, which was probably his first of this subject, in his New York studio the year following his second journey westward. He sold this painting at the Metropolitan Sanitary Fair in New York City for 1,600.00 which up to that point in time was a record price for a painting at this particular auction. The Valley of the Yosemite is a glacial valley in Yosemite National Park in the western Sierra Nevada Mountains in the state of California. Famous Artists art print #224
