An archival premium Quality art Print of Skeleton Skull With Smoking Cigarette by Vincent Van Gogh for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist painted this canvas in 1885 or 1886 while a student at the Academy of Royale des Beaux Arts in Antwerp Belgium. Van Gogh attended classes at this art academy to improve his command of the human figure, the teachers often used skeletons for the students to better learn human anatomy. Van Gogh added the lit cigarette either as a joke or to make fun of the school's academic practices, of which he did not approve. Of course today, people like to think he was showing the ill effects of smoking cigarettes. If you like to decorate for all the different holidays, this would be an excellent picture to put out at Halloween. The original of this art is now at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam.
