An archival premium Quality art Print of Landscape Near Arles by Paul Gauguin for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1888 with the original size being 28 by 36 inches and now resides at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in Indiana. Paul Gauguin spent two months with the other great artist, Vincent Van Gogh, in France and they collaborated on some artworks, however this stormy relationship did not last very long. This was the first painting by Gauguin from that partnership, in fact, Vincent Van Gogh even stretched this canvas for Gauguin to paint upon. The scene depicts a very normal and typical scene from the region including the traditional mas or farm house, the cypress trees which are very common to the region and the haystack which was typical for the work done by the farmers at this time of the year. The bright acidic colors are reminiscent of Van Gogh. This setting on the Plains of Crau was one of Van Gogh's favorite places in which to paint, so it is reasonable that this was the first location that he brought Gauguin. Famous Artist print #97
