Caladium Bicolor Leaf Botanical Art Print – Louis Van Houtte
A single Caladium leaf fills this antique botanical illustration with vivid scarlet veins, soft rose-colored shading, and mottled green texture. Its broad, heart-shaped outline tapers to a graceful point, while dark green margins frame the branching red veins. Against a pale background, the leaf’s intricate surface becomes a striking study of natural color and pattern.
Identified as the Brongniartii variety of Caladium bicolor, this illustration comes from Louis Van Houtte’s The Flowers of the Greenhouses and Gardens of Europe, Volume 13, published in 1858. Its dramatic foliage makes an appealing focal point for a plant-inspired room or a collection of antique leaf studies. Reproduced in archival quality by Brandywine General Store.
