An archival premium quality Art Print of Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci for sale by Brandywine General Store. This oil on poplar board was painted by Da Vinci sometime between the period of 1503 to around 1506. The painting is thought to be a portrait of Lisa Gherardini, the wife of Francesco del Giocondo who was a wealthy Florentine silk merchant. Most likely, Giocondo had this painting commissioned for his wife as a present for when they moved into their new home and also to celebrate the birth of their second son, Andrea. The artwork was acquired by King Francis I of France and has been on permanent display at the Louvre since 1797. The enigmatic expression on the model's face, the composition and the imaginary background, have all contributed to making this one of the most famous paintings in the history of mankind. Please keep in mind this painting is over 500 years old now and shows faults and wear, these also show up on this print, because to take out all the faults there wouldn't be much left of the original painting.
