Corot, Jean Baptiste Camille - Forest of Fontainebleau art print
Brandywine General Store
Art Print of Forest of Fontainebleau by Jean Baptiste-Camille Corot for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on canvas in 1846. Corot based this painting on sketches he made in the Forest of Fontainebleau which is just south of Paris. In 1872 he contributed this painting to the auction to help fellow artist Auguste Anastasi who had become blind and of course could no longer paint to support himself. The scene shows more pasture land and large trees than a dense forest. A lone cow is in the creek drinking water while the rest of the herd is fast coming to have their share of the water. Large rocks are scattered throughout the creek, forest and the grassland. An idyllic setting in which to paint. Country Decor archival premium quality art print #167.
