The composition shows a group of colorful hens on a pile of manure which has hay mixed throughout, looking like it was manure from the barn stalls. A lone rooster stands King like at the top of this pile, standing watch over his flock.They are scratching through this pile looking for scraps of corn, bugs and other foods.
