A set of 4 obsolete change notes issued by Loomis and Co store in Suffield Connecticut during the Civil War in 1862 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The set contains the five, ten, twenty - five and fifty cents pieces of scrip. All are dated in 1862 and are a nicely matched set with an average grade of around fine - very fine, all four bills also have low serial numbers of 71 and lower. Coinage got very scarce during the Civil War even in the Northern states so businesses had to resort to issuing paper scrip such as these obsolete notes.
