Rhododendron var Veitchianum Botanical Print by Houtte
A Museum Quality Print of the Veitchianum Rhododendron by Louis Van Houtte as published in his botanical journals "The Flowers in the Gardens and Greenhouses of Europe". This illustration was printed in volume 15, which was printed around 1863. The Rhododendron Veitchianum has a large white flower which are usually around 4 inches across and very fragrant. Their native habitat is Southeast Asia in countries such as Thailand, Burma, Laos and Vietnam so the plant is very heat and drought tolerant but will not take the cold, being hardy only down to twenty degrees. They are mostly epiphytic (grows on other plants) on forest trees, but they also grow on cliffs, rocks in the evergreen forests or in the open scrub areas.
