Fine Art Prints of Distinction

$7.99

A Museum Quality Print of the Madame Louis Van Houtte Rhodendron by Louis Van Houtte. This rhododendron has a white bloom with rose coloring at the edges, tinged in the center with flesh color and blood red spots. A first class novelty which is figured in Volume XXIII of Van Houtte's Flore des Serres. This rhododendron was also described in the Journal of Horticulture in the 1871 edition thus "a very beautiful, large flower, inbricated almost to the center of the most mellow flesh pink, all the petals edged with white and netted pale carmine with small carmine spots on some petals. Mid season blooming and was originated in Belgium by Van Houtte." This genus of rhododendron was most likely named after the wife of the famed artist of the botanical prints, Louis Van Houtte of which we have many listed in our store.
