The artwork features several large blooms in an eerie dark jungle like setting. This illustration was Picture number 49 in Fredrick Sanders book about orchids, titled Reichenbachia with this print being published around 1890. This orchid blooms from summer to fall and is mid sized. In the wild it grows in Columbia at elevations of 2,000 to 7,000 feet and is found at the edges of the lower Montane Forests. It is a very fragrant orchid that requires constant water, moderate shade, moderate to high humidity and cool to intermediate growing conditions. It can be potted in an epiphyte mix.
