Manet, Edouard - The Old Musician Fine Art Print
A Museum Quality Print of The Old Musician by Edouard Manet. This oil on canvas was painted by the artist in the year 1862, and was one of his largest paintings measuring 74 by 98 inches in size with the original now hanging in the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. Manet produced this work during a period when he was influenced by Spanish Art. The old musician is a real person named Jean Lagrene who is getting ready to play the violin. In real life he was the leader of a local gypsy band, who earned his living as an organ grinder and artist's model. The man in the top hat is Colardet, a rag picker and ironmonger. Manet painted these characters from an area he called a picturesque slum.
