Hyacinth Starry or Byzantine Squill Botanical Art Print
An archival premium Quality Art Print of the Byzantine Squill or as more commonly known today as the Starry Hyacinth for sale by Brandywine General Store. The picture was originally published in The Botanical Journal during the year 1796 and shows a bulb with leaves growing up and several blue blooms. The Byzantine Squill was described in the Botanical Journal as a hardy bulbous plant of small growth, a native of the Levant and has long been cultivated in England as an ornament, being introduced to the country around 1600 by Lord Zouch. The Byzantine squill flowers in May and in favorable situations ripens its seeds in June. It is increased by offsets, which are produced in abundance and will grow in almost any soil or situation but will succeed best if planted in a sandy loam and a warm sheltered part of the garden. Hexandria Monogynia. Botanical art print #42
