Dracaena Terminalis Stricta Fine Art Botanical Print by Houtte

Fine Art Prints of Distinction

$7.99

A Museum Quality Print of Dracaena Terminalis Stricta by Lois Van Houtte who painted this picture of a popular red houseplant for volume 15 of his epic botanical books called The Greenhouses and Gardens of Europe, which were published in Europe during the middle part of the 19th century. The Dracaenas are a group of foliage plants related to the Agave Family. Many are tropical but some are sub tropical and can be grown outside where the winters are mild. Some of these make excellent houseplants, however if they are grown inside, the plants seldom ever bloom. They vary in size from small houseplants to large and tree like such as the dragon tree. Terminalis is a gaudy show plant with numerous different varieties with wide, thin leaves and can be green, red, black, yellow, orange or mixed. In this picture Van Houtte shows a large long red and green leaf as well as a container with the whole houseplant showing. This example came from the islands of the Philippines.
