Caravaggio The Taking of Christ Art Print

Brandywine General Store

$10.99

An archival premium quality art print of The Taking of Christ, painted by Italian Baroque artist Caravaggio in 1602. The three figures to the left are John, Jesus, and Judas — who has just betrayed Christ with a kiss to identify him to the Roman soldiers. The figure on the right holding a lantern is believed to be a self-portrait of Caravaggio, representing a witness to the scene. The gleam on the soldiers’ armor is thought to symbolize a mirror of self-reflection and examination of conscience. Picture #106.
