Caravaggio The Entombment of Christ Art Print

$10.99

An archival premium quality art print of The Entombment of Christ, painted by Italian Baroque artist Caravaggio in 1603. Considered his most monumental and admired altarpiece, this oil on canvas is now in the Vatican collection. Christ's upper body is supported by John the Evangelist (or possibly Joseph of Arimathea), while his legs are carried by St. Nicodemus, who is believed to have removed the nails from Christ's feet at the Cross. The three women, from left to right, are the Virgin Mary depicted as an elderly nun, Mary Magdalene at center, and Mary of Clopas — a sister of the Virgin — on the right. Picture #103.
