Brueghel, Pieter the Younger - Wedding Dance in a Barn Fine Art Print
A Museum Quality Print of Wedding Dance in the Barn by Pieter Brueghel the Younger. The artist finished this oil on oak panel sometime around the year 1616. There are a couple different versions of this painting. Weddings were one of the few times the peasants could get together and socialize and have fun. It looks like in this print much drinking and merriment have been occurring, The musicians are in the upper left corner while several couples are dancing. Another old man and woman are fighting over a piece of food. The barn has been cleaned up for this wedding with all the accoutrements associated with farming being stacked neatly along the back wall This made more room for the peasants and wedding parties to dance.
