A Museum Quality Print of The Piazza San Martino, Lucca by Bernardo Bellotto. The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1746. The size of the original artwork is 20 by 28 inches and is now at the York Art Gallery in York, England. Lucca is an ancient city and commune in Tuscany, in the central par tof Italy on the river Serchio. It is most famous for its intact Renaissance era city walls. Lucca was founded by the Etruscans and became a Roman Colony in 180 BC. In this artwork Bellotto shows the Church of San Giovanni and the Palazzo Michiletti with its terraced gardens, both of these historic buildings are on the left. In the center right is the Duomo and Campanile. The original painting had a very large dark shadowy area at the bottom, we have removed that to give a better appearance.
