An archival premium Quality art Print of the Serrated Lobster - Cancer Serratus by James Sowerby for sale by Brandywine General Store. This hand colored engraving was drawn by Sowerby for Geroge Shaw to use in his book Zoology of New Holland, Volume 1 which was the first book ever published on the fauna of Australia. The original hand colored print is now at The Museum Victoria in Melbourne Australia. Sowerby and Shaw never traveled to Australia, they instead used dried skins and pickled specimens of the animals in which to make their drawings and descriptions, even with this handicap, their works are surprisingly very realistic and accurate. The Serrated Lobster is now better known as the Freshwater Crayfish or Eustacus Spinifier. The picture shows a single large specimen being red in color, with the antenna and the legs stretched out in front of him. Country decor art print #157
