SKU: MO obsolete #224

Obsolete four dollars Missouri Defence Bond printed during the Civil War by the Southern MO government while in exile for sale by Brandywine General Store. The obsolete currency has two steamboats on a river with a city skyline behind, the Missouri state seal is below. Criswell designated this obsolete money as MO #16 and is rated on the rarity scale as R-6 meaning it is estimated between 401 to 800 still exist. Missouri had two state governments during the Civil War, a Northern and Southern. After the Union completely took over the state, the southern government officials fled to Texas and operated from there. These second series of defence bonds were issued around that time, it is unclear though if they were ever released for circulation. Our estimation of condition to be used as a reference only is crisp very fine. The pictures show the front and back of the actual Missouri Southern obsolete money that is for sale to help you decide on condition before purchasing.
