A Museum Quality Art Print of An Inn with Acrobats and Bagpipe Player by the Brunswick Monogrammist for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on oak panel sometime during the decade of the 1550s with the original art measuring 12 by 14 inches in size. This is a bawdy tavern scene probably from when a group of entertainers or the circus was in town. A small acrobat is standing on his hands on top of a wooden cage while the bagpipe player is standing to the left of him. It looks like a couple of men are out of beer as they are holding their steins out to show the woman who is probably their waitress, while she is on another man's lap. A small dog is on a leash with the leash being passed between two women, the dog must be a performer also, but he is taking a rest. The Brunswick Monogrammist was an anonymous painter who was active in Antwerp during the 2nd quarter of the 16th century. He mainly painted religious scenes and also was known to do several works of secular merriment such as brothel and tavern scenes. Old Masters painting #50
