1999-S New Jersey Statehood Quarter PCGS Proof 69 Deep Cameo
A 1999-S New Jersey Statehood Quarter certified by PCGS at Proof 69 Deep Cameo. This Quarter was the 3rd in the fifty states quarter program by the US Mint. The scene depicts General George Washington and his Revolutionary Soldiers crossing the Delaware River enroute to Trenton NJ and then onward to Princeton. This all takes place on a very cold snowy Christmas night in which General Washington hopes to take the British by surprise. He accomplishes this and wins the battles of both cities, this gives his beleaguered soldiers much hope which carries over to a final victory. They also gain much needed supplies which helps them through this very bad winter. The quarter design is based on the 1851 painting by Emmanuel Leutze entitled "Washington Crossing the Delaware".
