An archival premium Quality art Print of Grouse Shooting by Henry Thomas Alken for sale at Brandywine General Store. The artist painted this oil on canvas in the year 1825 with the original size being 9 by 11 inches and now resides at the Yale Center for British Art. The scene shows a British Game Bird Hunter who has just shot a grouse and the dogs are trying to figure out which direction to go in which to find the grouse for their master. The site is a rocky area with a lot of grass land behind the grouse or pheasant hunter. Alken was an English painter and engraver mainly known as a caricaturist and illustrator of sporting subjects and coaching scenes. He lived from 1785 to 1851. We have another print by this artist called Duck Shooting which makes an excellent companion print to this one. Picture #135 Country Decor Paintings.
