Virginia Obsolete Money CR16 One Dollar Treasury Note

SKU: Various Good to Very Good

Richmond, Virginia Treasury Note One Dollar dated May 15, 1862. Features central vignette of goddess Ceres seated on a pile of cotton bales. Criswell designates this one dollar note as VA-16 because of the May 15, 1862 date. A portrait of Civil War era Governor Floyd is on the left. Red tints and overprint "ONE" add some color to this Confederate Note from the Commonwealth of VA. Virginia, like most CSA states, issued its own Treasury notes to circulate in the state along side Confederate government notes. The back of this Virginia obsolete civil war currency is plain. We have different VA one dollar treasury notes available for sale at Brandywine General Store but all will be in the same good to very good condition.
