Virginia Obsolete Currency Scott County Half Dollar Scrip Note
Virginia Obsolete Currency from Scott County Issued during the Civil War on August 15, 1862 from Estillville Virginia. Estillville is now known as Gate City. The city and Scott County is located in the southwest tip of Virginia and was renamed because the city was the gateway to the western coal fields. These are plain typeset examples of VA Confederate money, some of these notes have a vignette of a small tree, clock or crossed rifles with a musket pistol in the center. All are practically the same otherwise so they are listed together here.
